![]() While they did develop "Analog Efex Pro", improvements on all the other apps all but ceased. Google dropped that to $149 immediately (just because they could). Prior to the acquisition the whole Nik professional imaging suite was a bargain for any serious professional retailing for just around $500. In 2012 Google bought Nik for one sole (consumer) product, Snapseed, in an (unsuccessful) attempt to lure Facebook users to Google+. The technology was (is) so good that if Nik decided to launch a stand alone imaging editing app Adobe would have had some serious competition. Their U point technology (at the time and still) was revolutionary allowing unprecedented enhancement control. Their product(s) were designed by professional photographers for professional photographers. I along with many imaging professionals have been using Nik since they partnered a decade (+) ago with Nikon. ![]() Here's why this is not as good news as it seems: ![]()
